This new centre in Wedderburn College opens in early 2026. Run by Early Learning Victoria, a Victorian Government organisation, the centre will provide long day care and integrated kinder for 90 children aged 0-6.
About Early Learning Victoria
Early Learning Victoria is rolling out 50 government-owned and operated early learning centres by 2032 as part of the Best Start, Best Life reforms. The centres will provide childcare, Three and Four-Year-Old Kindergarten, and Pre-Prep, creating a supportive, inclusive, and high-quality early childhood education environment.
As a staff member, you’ll join a new Victorian government early childhood workforce, with access to:

As a Childcare Cook/Chef at ELV Wedderburn, you will:
- Planning and preparing a rotating, healthy menu aligned with ELV’s Eating and Drinking: Health, Nutrition and Food Safety Policy
- Catering to specific dietary, allergy, and cultural requirements
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance standards
- Managing stock control, ordering, and budgeting for kitchen supplies
- Building positive relationships with staff, children, and families
- Certificate in Food Handling
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
- Demonstrated experience as a Cook or Chef in a childcare, school, or high-volume kitchen setting
- Understanding of the Food Safety Act and relevant standards
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check
- First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certifications (or willingness to obtain)
- Police Check and International Police Check if resided overseas for 12+ months in the past 10 years
- Only candidates with valid full working rights in Australia will be considered
- Fixed-term visa holders may be eligible; bridging visa holders cannot
- International Police Check required if resided outside Australia for 12+ months in the last 10 years
