  • Once my business signs up, how long does it take to implement?

It takes only a day for us to liaise with your IT department to ensure the program is linked to your Intranet, but we suggest that we promote the program for three to four weeks before we hold the official launch.

  • How does Expect a Star launch the Corporate Family Program?

Expect A Star has a 12 week Implementation Program which begins with an official launch. The launch gives employees an overview of the features of the program followed by where the program is situated on the intranet. A parent workshop is also incorporated into the official launch to encourage a maximum number of employees to attend. A seried of flyers are then created and forwarded on week 4, 8 and 12 to encourage employees to return to the site, ensuring they are gaining maximum value.

  • What if my business does not have an Intranet?

Most of our clients also offer the URL to their employees so that they can also access the program from home. This is is a huge benefit as it allows the partners and extended family of your employees to access the program too. There is nothing better than engaging your employees and their family members to your business!

What kind of topics are covered in the Workshops?

These workshops are a fantastic networking opportunities for employees. Delivered onsite by a specialist Aged Care or Child Care consultants on topics of your choice, such as:

Aged Care Workshops

-     How do you and your family handle Alzheimer’s and Dementia?

-     How to support an elderly loved one suffering from depression

-     How to help a loved one deal with the grief of a partner or friend

      Childcare Workshops

       -     Behaviour management strategies for all the family

       -     Tackling fussy eaters

       -     Hints for a better nights sleep for you and your child

       -     How to cope with the guilt of having your child in childcare

  • My business is considering setting up a Childcare Centre at our work. Can you help?

Yes. Firstly there are many other things to consider, including:

Space - do you have adequate space to accommodate both the kids and the carers?  How do you know what is 'enough space' or evenappropriate?

Level of Staff interest/need - Have you surveyed your staff to determine the demographic make-up and/or interest in childcare support

Licence Requirements – What are the regulations in your state?  Check with your relevant State Government department to determine your obligations regarding the provision of childcare services.  For example, in NSW the Department of Community Services (DoCS) regulates the provision of childcare, such that a licence is required to provide childcare to children younger than school age.

Resources – Do you have adequate facilities (both in quantity and size/ dimensions) for the age groups you want to accommodate? For example, toilets and urinals that adults use are inappropriate for toddlers.

Legal Requirements – insurances, workplace health & safety and many other legal considerations must be evaluated.

Costs – what budget do you have to work with?  There are more costs to setup and maintain a childcare service than just the payment of carers themselves (eg. Site development, licences and registrations, insurance premiums, programming, supervision and management, purchasing of equipment & resources…)

Tax Benefits – there can be considerable benefits to an organisation supplying onsite childcare, however you should consult a qualified Accountant for advice as there may also be fringe benefit implications among other things to consider

Payment terms – who will pay for the daily care and how?  If staff are to pay individually and they want to claim childcare benefits, then you must comply to the Government regulations of gaining accreditations and installing online payment software…

Whilst costs, time and staff demands can be prohibitive for many organisations to go through this process of   investigating onsite childcare options, some organisations (more commonly the larger businesses) do in fact go through with it, especially when the costs of staff turnover and absenteeism begin to outweigh the costs and logistics of having the childcare available.

At Expect A Star, we can assist you with the entire process – from first considerations through to opening the doors for the first time, and even ongoing management of staff.  Simply contact us for more information, and we’d be happy to arrange a meeting to discuss your options.
